Mâ Ananda Moyî (1896-1982) was certainly the most revered woman of the 20th century in India. From her early childhood, she was considered in her native Bengal as an extraordinarily luminous being. Soon thousands, millions of people came to her to receive the blessing of darshan, the transfiguring contact with the spiritual master.
Her mostly silent teaching was not based on any dogma, and her influence extended far beyond the various schools of Hinduism. Heads of state, Sanskritists, monks, men and women of all religions came to visit her from all over the world. The Joy transmitted by "Ma" was similar to the ineffable Bliss evoked by the great mystics, and which has its roots in the intuition of non-duality.
